September '13 Favourites

September is a great month, a month of new beginnings and the start of Autumn. The leaves change colour, I get to wear my winter scarf again and out of childhood habit I automatically check the ground for fallen conkers. Here are the products I have been loving in September....

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

Every now and then you pick up a beauty product which you didn't even really think you necessarily needed but once you own it, you're not quite sure how you managed without it. This is one of those products. I have already written a positive review about this one here but I just have to mention it in my favourites because I have pretty much worn this every day this month. It is a perfect eyeshadow palette to create a neutral look for work and I simply love it!

MAC Club Eyeshadow

This satin-finish duo-chrome brown based eyeshadow with teal green shimmer is just so unique! I attended an evening wedding reception this month to which I wore a teal green dress from Warehouse and I used Club to create a smokey eye which complemented my outfit perfectly. It was dark and dramatic and changed my makeup look from day to evening so easily (I only had about half an hour to get ready after work). I may not be able to get away with this eyeshadow on an everyday basis but I know that it will never fail to make me feel glamorous when applied for an evening out and I am very happy with this latest addition to my MAC quad. See this post for swatches. (As you can see, my quad is finally full, I just got my 4th eyeshadow! Post coming soon).

Soap and Glory Hand Food

Autumn has arrived, and although the change in weather hasn't quite been dramatic enough for me to start wearing my new winter coat, already my hands have been noticing the difference in temperature. As soon as it starts to get a bit chillier my hands get really dry! Soap and Glory's Hand Food was my hand cream of choice last winter and it has now been retrieved from the back of my drawer, dusted off and placed in prime position on my bed side table ready to see me through another cold and grey season. It smells amazing!

Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me

These lip balms have had a lot of hype around them so I had pretty high expectations for them. To be honest I was pretty disappointed. They aren't particularly unique, they are at the end of the day just a lip balm. But that being said, I have still enjoyed using Cherry Me as it is a quick and easy way to add a sheer pop of colour to the lips whilst keeping them hydrated. It isn't however, a great product to rely on if you have very dry lips and I would always recommend a Carmex or Blistex type product instead.

Ghost Deep Night Perfume

I bought this perfume back in the spring which was a bit silly because it isn't really a spring/summer fragrance and it didn't get a lot of use. Now that the weather is cooling down this perfume is a perfect everyday fragrance. It is described as a floral scent with notes of apricot, peach, white wood, amber, vanilla and rose and it has a very intense deep musky scent (but in a good way!)

I had hoped to add a Book of the Month section to each monthly favourites post but I just haven't had a lot of time for reading this month and haven't finished a single book. I have however started The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom and I am really enjoying it so far!
