Makeup Brush Cleaning

For some it is a chore, although I know a lot of beauty bloggers actually really enjoy cleaning their makeup brushes, but whether we like it or not it is a necessity. After a certain number of uses, makeup brushes inevitably start to harbour bacteria, dust and dirt, and these are not things you will want to apply to your face along with your expensive foundation.

Makeup brush cleaning is very easy but can take a while depending on how many you use and how frequently you do so. It is best to clean them at least once every couple of weeks although once a week would be better. I am a bit lazy so I clean mine every other week.

MAC Club Eyeshadow - Review & Swatches

Month three of building my MAC quad and my eyeshadow 'Club' finally arrived! I order it from Debenhams because of the Beauty Card free shipping code and the first one that arrived was completely shattered. They packaged and padded it really well but unfortunately these things happen. A quick email to their customer services team and another eyeshadow was quickly sent on it's way to me.

Quite exciting actually because with a little white spirit hopefully I can salvage half of the broken one and have a spare in my Unii palette!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey - A Surprising Review

I have had my eye on the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains for quite a long time and the colour Honey in particular. This is a highly recommended lip crayon on other blogs so I was excited when I finally got my hands on one and expected to love it.

Honey looks like a lovely natural pink blush colour so I thought it would make a great everyday lip product. It is very easy to apply and goes on smoothly. The appearance is glossy and as it's name suggests works as a stain so, once on, the colour does not transfer or disappear very quickly.

Autumn/Winter Haul

I get very excited when the season starts to change. It doesn't matter whether it's winter in to spring or summer in to autumn, for some reason I like knowing that the year is passing. I love spring/summer for the weather but I love autumn/winter for the clothes. I have always felt more comfortable in my winter clothes and I get very excited about wearing my coat, hat and scarf for the first time.

I love snuggling up at home in a thick jumper and a blanket with a cup of tea, and I secretly start getting excited about Christmas as soon as the leaves start to change colour in September (but sshhh don't tell my sister!!)

MAC 217 Brush Alternatives

The MAC 217 Brush is by far the most mentioned makeup brush in the beauty blogging world, except perhaps the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. As amazing as it sounds and no matter how many rave reviews I read, I just can't bring myself to spend £18 on one little eyeshadow brush. It just seems a bit ridiculous. I know many will claim that it is completely worth the money and they may be right, but for the time being I just can't afford it. But never say never eh?

In the meantime I have done a bit of research and purchased a couple of alternatives. I wouldn't be comfortable calling them dupes as I have not tried the 217 and couldn't guarantee but from other peoples recommendations they seem to be real possibilities.

If All My Makeup Disappeared...

After seeing Estee's (from Essie Buttons) YouTube video with the same title (see here), it got me thinking about the 10 products I would re-purchase if all my makeup suddenly disappeared.

There are maybe 4 products that I use pretty much everyday which would be obvious re-purchases but I couldn't wait to think about what the other 6 would be. As mentioned in my previous posts I have always loved wearing makeup but it wasn't until this year that I became full-on obsessed with the stuff! I have bought more makeup this year than probably the last 5 years combined.

It really got me thinking, out of all the new products I have researched, tried and purchased, which items could I not live without out? (A bit dramatic!) Or as this post suggests, which products would I prioritise if all my makeup disappeared?...

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette - Review & Swatches

I have read many reviews of this palette which were pretty much all positive but for some reason I was never too worried about picking one up for myself. On a recent day out with my lovely Uni friends who live way too far away, one of them asked for a recommendation of a neutral light brown matte eyeshadow, the girl does not like shimmer! I thought about it for a couple of days and it suddenly it dawned on me, the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette is the perfect eyeshadow palette for her.

August '13 Favourites

August has been a busy month and I have been rubbish at blogging. I just found it difficult to find time this month but I'm getting back in to the swing of things. As mentioned in a previous post I have also been a bit low on cash this month and haven't been able to try many new beauty products, but here is a run down of my August favourites...
