Battle of the Maybelline Mascaras - The Falsies vs. The Rocket

When it comes to mascara Maybelline know what they are doing! I absolutely swear by Maybelline mascaras and don't even bother looking at other brands. If my regular Maybelline mascara isn't available  I just pick up one of their other offerings and trust that it will be exactly what I am looking for. They always seems to find a great balance between volume and length. I must state of course that I only buy the waterproof ones and the only time I have been disappointed by a Maybelline mascara was when I accidentally bought the non-waterproof version.

Battle of the Micellar Solutions - Bioderma vs. L'oreal

I started using the 'must have' Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micelle Solution at the beginning of June. I bought a 250ml bottle and after 2 and half months it has only just starting to run out, and that's after using it everyday, twice a day.

I have really enjoyed using it to take my makeup off at the end of the day and to cleanse my face before putting my makeup on first thing in the morning. I simply apply some to a cotton pad and wipe it over my face. To remove eye makeup it is better to hold the pad over the eyes for a few seconds which dissolves the makeup and makes it easier to wipe away.

e.l.f Shimmer Palette

Okay, I promise to stop with the e.l.f products soon! I know there have been a few, I mean seriously, how long can a blogger drag out one haul?! Unfortunately I have been very broke and busy this month so haven't been able to do much makeup testing or shopping. I wanted to do a post on this product though because it is really pretty and a great bargain buy!

e.l.f Twinkle Pink Blusher

In my recent e.l.f haul (see post here) I ordered one of their blushers in shade Twinkle Pink. I had heard that this could possibly be a dupe for the 'must have' Nars blusher in shade Orgasm which at £21.50 I really can't afford at the moment. The photo on the website did seem similar, it looked like a pinky-peach tone with a slight gold shimmer and it was only £3.75.

My New Favourite Eyeshadow Look - MAC and Topshop

It's month two of slowly building up a MAC quad and I purchased my second eyeshadow (read about my first one here). This was an easy choice as it comes highly recommended by a number of beauty blogs and is quite a hyped up shade. It is of course the stunning Satin Taupe, a very difficult colour to describe actually. I would say that it is a taupe with a mixture of grey, purple and brown tones and a slight silver shimmer.  It's a beautiful neutral shade but the purple/grey tones make it a bit different to all my other neutral brown shades.

Battle of the Anti-Redness Powders - Clinique vs. E.L.F

As someone with pale skin, red patches and areas of pigmentation can be very obvious and difficult to conceal. I have recently been experimenting with colour correcting powders (or de-redener powder things are the hubby likes to call them!) which not only set your makeup and help it to last longer but also help to mask redness and even-out skintone.

I started with Cliniques Redness Solutions Instant Relief Powder which is a yellow powder which you can read more about in my previous post here. Clinique's powder is very finely milled with subtle colour-correcting effects and does not look at all powdery once applied to the face. But at £25 for only 9.6g of product it isn't the most cost-effective daily solution.
