The US Wish List

One of my loveliest friends is a very lucky lady indeed as she has just left for the bright lights of Sin City! I know that if it was me heading to Vegas I wouldn't be doing much gambling (my gambling technique is £5 on red and £5 on black  and you always win!) instead I would spend all my time and money beauty shopping.

So when this lovely friend and possibly my biggest blog supporter text me a week before she left asking for some US beauty recommendations I took it as a very serious request and an important time consuming project to put a little list together for her.

As I have never been to the US and have not tried any of the above products, I based this list on the recommendations of my fellow beauty lovers and bloggers. These are the products that often came up in people's favourite US beauty products and US Hauls and the ones that I would be checking out if it were me....

1. Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams
2. Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadows
3. Milani Baked Blush
4. Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush
5. Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation
6. Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow and Liner Nude Collection
7. Wet n' Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Collection in Comfort Zone

Now, I'm not entirely sure, some of these brands/products may be available to purchase in the UK but I have not come across them and they are very easily accessible across the US. I did almost include some items from the e.l.f brand but then found a UK website! Who knew?! This of course ended in a massive order being placed half an hour later and I am eagerly awaiting my delivery!

Make Up For Ever seems like a very promising brand particularly in base and eye products. The HD Foundation is supposed to be amazing and the Aqua Creams and Aqua Shadows are meant to be entirely waterproof! The eye products are around the $20 mark (approx £13) on the Sephora website and the foundations are around $40 (approx £26). This makes it more expensive than drugstore brands and seems to be about the same as Urban Decay prices.

Milani's prices are more suited to the drugstore with the Baked Blush being around $7.99 (approx £5). I have heard good things about the brand in general and the blushers in particular caught my eye as the shade range is quite impressive.

Looking on the Physicians Formula website they seem to have an extensive range and very cute packaging. The Happy Booster Blushes came up numerous times in my research. Both the violet smell and plant extract ingredients are supposed to give you a "feeling of joy". I don't know about that but the colours look gorgeous. The price of the Happy Booster Blush is around $11.99 (approx £8) so sits between Make Up For Ever and Milani but should still be considered an affordable drugstore brand.

The Shimmer Strip Nude Eyeshadow Palette shown above is so cute and actually the one item I have asked my friend to pick up for me. It has a great range of shimmery "griege" and neutral shades that look quite cool-toned. This palette is only $10.99 (approx £7).

The Wet n' Wild Comfort Zone Palette is one of those beauty products that everyone seems to have in the 'blogosphere'. From the reviews I have read this one is affordable and very good quality. If you love neutral eyeshadows but prefer to have a little more choice than just brown shades this palette is a great option with greens and greys also included. Each shade is even labelled with the suggested placing on the eyes e.g 'crease' or 'browbone' and it's only $4.99 (approx £3) on the Walgreens website! Can't go wrong!

Of course, I did also mention Tarte and their Amazonian Clay Blushers, the product I got the last time a friend of mine went to America and you can read about that one here.

The stores that I would check out for beauty products in America are Sephora, Walgreens, Target, Ulta and CVS.

I am sure there are many more amazing US products that could be added to this list but I didn't want to overwhelm her with too much. If there is a product you think should be added do let me know, she is still there and I can always send her a cheeky text!...

(It should be said that tax isn't usually included in the prices advertised in the US and this is normally added at the till but at only 5% it isn't too bad).

  1. My U.S beauty wishlist is huge lol so many things I want. I actually found a couple of Milani bronzers in Poundland last week, not exactly what you have on your wishlist but might be worth a look if you're looking to try out the brand :) x
