July '13 Favourites

Another month, another monthly favourites post! Here is what I have been loving this month....

Sun Care
The majority of July has actually been pretty hot and sunny so two of my favourites this month are products that have helped me cope in the heat. The first is the Piz Buin Allergy Face Cream SPF 50. I was using the Soltan Once Face 8 Hour Sun Protection Sun Care Cream SPF 30 which is meant to last 8 hours so is good for a pre-makeup application but I really didn't like the smell and it seemed to be causing a breakout so I switched back to my trusty Piz Buin which is much kinder to my skin and smells like holidays!

The second is the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. I wasn't sure when I first got this whether it actually made a difference but after using it a lot in the heat my foundation and concealer does stay on a bit better when I use this. It isn't a miracle product but it does help.

My most used blusher this month has definitely been the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface which my friend picked up for me from America. You can read a more in-depth review about it here but the colour is a gorgeous pale pink, the formula has the perfect amount on pigmentation and it blends effortlessly.

Perfume Atomiser
I have been loving these little perfume atomisers which I picked up from Ebay for a couple of quid. When I choose my perfume in the morning I just pop the atomiser filled with the same perfume in my handbag for an extra spritz when I am out and about. I have Ghost Whisper in the atomiser above. You can read my previous post on these atomisers here.

Wanting an easy eye look which won't melt off in this heat I have been constantly reaching for the Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencil in Chocolate Brown. It's a gorgeous bronzey brown colour and the formulation has fantastic longevity. It can be difficult to blend because it dries so quickly but I just sweep this all over the lid for a low-maintenance eyeshadow look. See this post on the Collection Work The Colour Eyshadow Pencils.

My favourite and most used brushes this month are the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, which is a little denser than the Buffing Brush and allows a little move coverage, and the other brush is the Real Techniques dupe-like brush from Joursna (brush no.1) which I picked up from Ebay for £2.59. This is more like the Buffing Brush but it is slightly more pointed which is perfect for applying foundation in difficult areas like around the nose and eyes. The Joursna brushes are so soft, even more so than the Real Techniques ones and I really recommend them. Both of these brushes are perfect for base application and I love them! For a more detailed comparison of the Joursna and Real Techniques brushes see this post.

Nail Varnish
This is my bargain favourite at only £1! I picked up two of the MUA £1 Nail Varnishes, Amaretto Crush (shown above) and Bold Blue. I wasn't too impressed with Bold Blue which applied streaky and the colour was unflattering with my skintone but Amaretto Crush is beautiful. It applied perfectly and dried so quickly, it took less than 5 minutes to apply three coats! The colour reminds me of Rimmels Nail Varnish in Rose Libertine. It does chip quickly but for £1 it's not the end of the world.

So that's it for my July favourites. There are a couple of other products I am loving at the moment, including a few from my e.l.f Haul but I haven't given them a long enough trial to give them a 'monthly favourite' status yet.
