Dainty Doll Hippy Shake Blusher - Highlighter for Pale Skin

I have had a pretty good experience with Dainty Doll by Nicola Roberts makeup so far (see previous post here). The range is made for pale and fair skin tones so I know that I can pretty much count on their shades to complement my pale complexion.

As I am trying to get a little more in to powder blushers I thought I would order a couple of the Dainty Doll ones, especially since they were only £1.99 on the Fragrance Direct website (possibly because Dainty Doll is being/has been discontinued - or so I have read).

I picked up shades Hippy Shake and You Are My Sunshine. You Are My Sunshine seems to be powder version of their cream blusher Orange County Girl from my first Dainty Doll haul. It is a very pretty peachy colour with a gold shimmer. It is very pigmented and I have found that it is a bit too orange for me because of the pink undertone of my skin. Due to the gold shimmer these blushers would work a lot better with an evening makeup look and I actually think that these would look beautiful on tanned skin more than fair skin.

You Are My Sunshine Powder Blusher and Orange County Girl Cream Blusher

On the website Hippy Shake looked like a cool toned pale pink but in real life it is really quite a lilacy-pink. It looked a bit scary for me to begin with but I had a play around with it and found a way to use it that I am really happy with.

The lilacy-pink shade is a gorgeous subtle colour which is quite buildable and I have been loving it as a highlighter instead of a blusher. I usually use a cool toned silvery pink highlighter like Benefit's High Beam but this has been a nice change. The lilac colour really complements fair skin and seems to add some dimension to the face with almost a pearlescent looking finish. I love that the colour is so different to anything I have used before, it's unusual but in a good way!

I am currently teaming it with No.7's Ballerina Beauty Blush Palette (read all about it here) and the two seem to go really well together as they both have a subtle silver shimmer running through them.

I highly recommend this blusher for paler skin tones especially as a highlighter.
