Ciaté Caviar Manicure Set - Marie Claire Magazine Freebie!

I'll be honest, I don't usually read Marie Claire magazine, evident by the fact that I kept accidentally calling it the Marie Curie magazine to the hubby (now that would be an interesting read). I picked up this month's magazine purely for the freebie, this cute little Ciaté Caviar Manicure Set.

I wasn't entirely sold on this 'caviar' nail look and have seen plenty of pictures of it on Pinterest but when I saw this freebie I thought it was worth a purchase. The magazine is only £3.80 and I have been looking for a nude nail polish just like the mini Cookies and Cream shade included in this set. I thought the caviar pearls would be fun to play around with and I tried it out as soon as I got home.

The caviar pearls on every nail seemed a bit much for me to begin with and I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to apply so I decided to do it on just the ring fingers. I applied 3 coats of the Cookies and Cream polish to begin with and an extra layer on the ring finger. Then very quickly (as this nail varnish seems to dry really fast!) I poured some of the Caviar Pearls in colour Shooting Star on to the palm of the opposite hand and pressed my ring finger, nail down, on to the beads. I then carefully poured the remaining beads back in to the bottle and pressed the applied beads down on to the nail to secure them in place. Then, after a few minutes, I applied the Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Top Coat to help keep them in place.

I actually really like the end result and I didn't think I would. I am not sure I would use it on all my nails but I quite like having a 'feature' nail on my ring fingers. The Shooting Star beads are gold, silver and some have an almost mother-of-pearl finish and they look lovely with the Cookies and Cream nail varnish which I also like on it's own.

Have you tried the caviar nail look? You can still pick up this month's Marie Claire magazine if you fancy giving it a try for only £3.80.

  1. i own the caviar in like black and really like it. i used it without a top coat once and i dind't last one day without falling apart. it gets a little better with a top coat but for the money you spend on the polish if you really get it, the result kinda disappointed me.

    1. Thanks for the comment =) I have seen the black one, it looks really nice! Yeah the beads didn't seem very secure without the top coat. The main problem was that I was so fascinated by the effect, I just couldn't stop picking at all the beads! Didn't last very long on my nails lol.
